Fund Overview: Islamic Private Equity in Action

The Growth Fund pursues private equity-style investments with aligned value systems, targeting mission-led ventures, SMEs, and scalable businesses built on ethical foundations.

We aim to deliver a targeted 12% annualised return for investors by investing in cash-generative businesses that reflect our values.

Through our Income Fund’s participation in the Growth Fund’s investees, for those businesses meeting its investment thesis, we are able to offer well-structured, ethically compliant funding options, to replace riba structures.

After returning the targeted 12% to investors and 20% to the asset manager, investors will participate in 50% of uncapped upside.

Capital from both the Income Fund and the Growth Fund will be strategically deployed to acquire and grow these businesses, ultimately enhancing equity returns for Growth Fund investors. These investments will be made in accordance with our investment thesis, and after approval from the Investment Committee. We will pursue investments in businesses that are highly cash generative, sustainable, and legacy defining.

The fund will have a geographic focus of Africa and the Middle East initially but with a keen interest in pursuing businesses capable of scaling globally. The Growth Fund has an existing pipeline of exceptional businesses to invest in, starting in South Africa, and looking towards the rest of Africa and the Middle East as these opportunities are identified, thus increasing the geographic spread of the portfolio.
